Every episode from here brings us closer to a full reveal, the moment we open the doors and step inside a finished dome. In this episode, the floors are poured, the kitchen is taking shape, and you'll hear directly from Geoship's designers about the thinking behind the choices you're seeing come to life.

Poured Floors: A Natural, Zero-Waste Solution
With the interior panels and stair in place, the team turned to the floor. Both stories were poured in place using a cork and linseed oil based material, a zero red list product free of the harmful chemicals found in many conventional flooring options.
Pouring the floor in place rather than installing sheeted goods solved a problem specific to building inside a dome: a curved layout doesn't cut cleanly from rectangular sheets. The pour eliminated that waste entirely, following the curve of the space without a single cut.
Interior Walls Painted
Interior walls are now fully covered, and the team moved to paint, though "paint" undersells what's actually going on the walls. Geoship chose a bio shield product, a natural clay paint colored with natural pigments. It applies like traditional paint, but contains no VOCs, keeping the air inside Amma One as healthy as the structure itself.
Worth noting: none of the GeoRock bioceramic panels themselves were painted. The clay paint went on select interior walls, not on the bioceramic material, which doesn't require paint to begin with. That distinction points to where Geoship is headed. As more of the interior becomes GeoRock, less of it will need paint at all, and the long-term vision is a home where the bioceramic material itself is the finished surface, nothing painted, everywhere. Choosing a zero VOC clay paint for the walls in this build is a step in that direction, not the end goal.
The Kitchen: A Curved Island Takes Shape
The kitchen island is one of the more distinctive design choices inside the dome, and its shape is intentional. A curved island keeps the flow of the space open, so anyone walking around it avoids the hard corners a rectangular island would create. It also gives multiple people room to work in the kitchen at once without getting in each other's way.
The install itself was straightforward: a base was attached to the slab, and the island simply set onto that base.
Design Philosophy: Where Form Meets Function
At Geoship, design and engineering aren't separate conversations. Every layout decision is shaped as much by what the team wants to create as by what the structure allows, and that collaboration is where Amma's floor plan comes from: a home guided by the human experience, from waking up to cooking to washing your hands, built around ease and comfort at every step.
The color palette follows the same logic, but points outward instead of inward. Rather than start from a mood board, Geoship's designers looked to the reddish soils found in different parts of the world, scouting the colors as if looking at that soil under a microscope, and pulling out the soft peaches, terracotta clays, and sandy tones you see throughout the dome. The goal was a home that feels like it was drawn from the earth, not placed on top of it.
Healthy, Sustainable Sourcing
That same standard extends to sourcing. From the tile in the shower to the furniture, cabinets, and counters, the team looks for partners providing materials that are healthy at the source, including the zero VOC paint now going on Amma's walls. It's an easy detail to overlook, but few things touch more square footage in a home than paint.
This Is Just the Beginning
Geoship's broader goal isn't just to build one home well. It's to make natural homes, the kind built from materials that come from the earth and can return to it without harm, mass producible. That means giving more people access to a way of living that's healthy and sustainable without requiring a custom, hand-built process to get there.
Walking through Amma One, even when unfinished, that goal starts to feel tangible: light moving softly through the space, the skylight overhead, floor after floor and system after system coming together into something whole.
Amma One is Geoship's first expression of that technology and design, experienced as a full-scale home. But its function to the business goes beyond the home itself. Building this first full-scale single family dome was always meant to be a learning process, an important step in Geoship's product development. Many of the choices made along the way have been validated and will set the foundation for how Geoship approaches scale. Others pointed to things the team wants to advance or change in future models.
